About the appeal

The current '4 slice' CT scanner at The Children's Hospital is used over 1,600 times a year by almost every department within the hospital.

However, it is now over seven years-old and the hospital is not benefiting from advances that have been made with technology.

We want to raise £500,000 to buy a brand new '64 slice' CT scanner which will:

  • Produce clearer images and provide more information to aid in diagnosis and treatment
  • Emit even lower doses of radiation
  • Provide images of the body much faster than the old scanner
  • Come with extra software packages which may help avoid a child requiring an operation
